Want to help more dogs?
Separation anxiety affects over 10 million dogs and their people in the U.S. alone. As a dog trainer, you’re dedicated to helping dogs and humans live better lives together. There’s no way to have a bigger impact than learning to successfully treat SA cases.
To help as many people and dogs as possible by teaching accomplished dog trainers how to solve more SA cases. Every day my team and I receive emails and calls from desperate dog owners around the country. There’s more work than we can do, and it desperately needs doing.
Want to learn more about my personal motives and purpose for dedicating my career to separation anxiety? If so, please listen to a podcast interview, hosted by the Animal Training Academy here.
Fixing The Unfixable
Separation anxiety is commonly held by trainers, veterinarians, behaviorists, and owners to be untreatable. In reality, it is one of the most treatable canine disorders. The treatment may not be easy, but it’s simple.
I employ and teach only scientifically sound, humane training protocols. My training consists of positive reinforcement-based confidence-building exercises and desensitization and counter-conditioning. No use of aversives of any kind. I rely heavily on technology to guide clients around the country through effective protocols to avoid unnecessary and costly training setbacks by carefully setting, monitoring, and adjusting training criteria.
I provide carefully constructed, ongoing support to clients throughout the training process, while systematically teaching them to read their dogs and to set absence criteria.
You’ll study directly with me, alongside a small number of carefully chosen fellow trainers. You’ll review salient pieces of specific cases, learn to write effective training plans, and master the use of simple technologies to guide clients. You’ll learn the ins, outs and important details as to how I take in new clients, set their expectations, and help them set up the necessary technology. You’ll also learn how I create specific training plans, set criteria, how I handle the good moments and the setbacks, help clients celebrate triumphs and get through moments of doubt. You’ll be preparing training plans based on real life cases guided by me and supported by your fellow students.
I used to dread taking on separation anxiety cases as a trainer because the success rate was so low. Through Malena’s certification program my confidence level has been significantly boosted along with my success rate. Now, I tackle each case with enthusiasm knowing that long-term success in treating this complex behaviour challenge is realistic and attainable.”
